Editorial Guidelines

Editorial Guidelines

At Healthy at 50, we know that health information carries real weight β€” the guidance we publish can influence decisions about your body and your care. These editorial guidelines explain how we research, review, and stand behind everything on this site.

Our mission

To give men and women over 50 clear, trustworthy, evidence-based health information β€” without hype, fear-mongering, or jargon β€” so they can ask better questions and make informed decisions with their own doctors.

How we research

We ground our content in peer-reviewed research and current guidance from reputable medical bodies β€” organizations such as the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, American Urological Association, the Endocrine Society, the American Diabetes Association, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, and the National Institutes of Health. When guidance changes, we update our articles.

Medical review

Our health content is written to reflect mainstream medical consensus and is reviewed for general accuracy before publication. Any medical review reflects general accuracy at the time of publishing and is not a substitute for personalized medical advice.

Sourcing and citations

Every health article lists its key sources. We cite primary guidance and reputable institutions rather than secondary summaries wherever possible, and we do not invent statistics or attribute quotes to people who did not say them.

Corrections and updates

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Spot an error or something out of date? Email us at [hello@healthyat50.com] and we will review it promptly. We revisit our guides as the science evolves.

Advertising and affiliate independence

Healthy at 50 is free to read and supported by display advertising and affiliate commissions. Earning a commission never determines our opinions. We choose what to feature based on research and value to readers, not commission rates, and we say so when our assessment of a product is unfavorable. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

Not a substitute for medical care

We publish general education, not personalized medical advice, and reading this site does not create a doctor–patient relationship. Always consult your own physician about your health. Please read our Medical Disclaimer.
